Election Law

Connecticut Campaign and Election Lawyer

If you are a candidate or campaign manager in state election campaign in Connecticut, you should be aware that new election laws will affect how you run your campaign. I am campaign and election lawyer Robert Russo of the Southport, Connecticut, law office of Robert D. Russo, Attorney at Law. Along with being an experienced election law attorney, I am also a principal in the communications and market research firm of Connecticut Strategies Consulting, where I work directly with elected officials and campaign directors for state campaigns. Previously, I served as the director of Governor M. Jodi Rell’s Fairfield County office and as Deputy Chief of Staff to United States Congressman Christopher Shays in his Washington, D.C., office. In addition, I have run numerous campaigns in Connecticut and been a candidate for the State Senate twice, which provides me with an in-depth understanding of how the new election laws will play out in the future.

Contact my office to schedule a consultation with me about the new Connecticut election laws. The new election laws are complex, with some important changes that you must be aware of in order to stay clear of potential pitfalls. When we meet to discuss your campaign, I will clearly explain how the new laws apply, as well as how my services can be beneficial to your campaign.

STATE OF CONNECTICUT INSTITUTES PUBLIC FINANCING FOR GENERAL ASSEMBLY CAMPAIGNS

Starting with the 2008 elections for the General Assembly, it will be possible for State Senate and House of Representative candidates to apply for public funding of their campaigns. However, the "Clean Election Act of 2005", also contains many new regulations in addition that will make it even harder for candidates to navigate the State's campaign finance laws. If you are considering running for the General Assembly and want to make sure you can qualify for public funding or just want to make sure your campaign complies with all of the intricacies of the new law, call me Robert Russo for a consultation.

Contact my office in Southport to schedule a consultation about your election law needs. Start early. Avoid trouble. Campaigns are tough enough without running into legal trouble.
